After ordering your criminal record check send an email to Disclosure Scotland asking for the resident notary to Notarise your criminal record check before sending it back to you. This is the easiest and cheapest way. Disclosure Scotland do advise that they can do this on their website.
2. Find a notary in your area – http://www.facultyoffice.org.uk/Notaries1.html or use Google to do a search. A notary will be able to Notarise your criminal record check in an hour however it is a lot more expensive. The notary will however ensure that the document is notarised correctly and as most are based at soliciotors they can ensure the safe delivery and return of your documents from the FCO.
Note: The Foreign and Commonwealth Office in the U.K will not Apsotille/Leagalise a notarised copy of a Disclosure Scotland check or any other form of criminal record check. The Notarised document needs to be the origional criminal record check. The origional document must be Notarised before the Foreign and Commonwealth Office will Legalise/Apostille the document.
